Kayla Alcorcha
I am a multimedia journalist. From lyrical poetry to consumer products, I specialize in broadcasting unique voices, ideas, and technologies.
I earned my B.A. from Scripps College in English (Honors) and Spanish, Latin American and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures.
I am a first-generation and low-income student who grew up in San Francisco and Sonoma County, California. I have always been a collector of stories: when my elementary school library gave away books at the end of the year, I'd stash my favorites behind a bench for safe-keeping. Having completed my English degree, I am now a professional story-keeper. My experiences are scattered across publishing, marketing, and communications.

'Tawdry, Staggering, Irresistible, Like Human Love'
A comparative analysis of Anne Carson's Plainwater (1995) and Autobiography of Red (1998) that uses Carson's own scholarship—namely Eros the Bittersweet (1986)—to identify the three pivotal stages of 'human' love: disempowering attachment, profound loss, and coming to knowledge.
